My Dearest Friend,

When thinking of Rome, we often think of gladiators, their infamous rulers, and their downfall.  But on my most recent trip through time, I decided to visit Capua, the fragrance capital of Rome.  I hadn’t realized the Romans were some of the first to scent their homes with incense and diffusers.  The spice and smoke were a delight, so I couldn’t help recreating it to the best of my ability.  I do hope you’ll enjoy it.

Yours,
Prof A

Scent History

Capua has a long and storied past, first founded by the Etruscans in 600 BC, then falling under Roman rule around 300 BC. A prosperous city known for its wine, spices, bronze, and perfume. Seplasia was Capua’s renowned perfume market, and the word perfume is derived from the Latin perfumare, meaning ‘to smoke through’.
In blending this scent, our team spent months studying the history of the region, and the fragrances that were popular in perfume oils and incense of the time, so we could recreate a modern version.
